We left Tel Aviv Saturday around noon and headed south for Eilat. First it was a few miles east to route 6, then onto Beersheva and route 40. Eventually we connected with the Arava Road to Eilat. We only stopped for gas, to over Mitzpa Ramon and to tour Yotvata Bar Yohai, Noah's Zoo. Eventually we arrived at Eilat and continued to the Mitzrayyim Road toward Coral Beach and the Prima Carlton. We went for a short snorkel and were served dinner across the street by Dr. Carter's double. Sunday Morning, 5 AM we would meet a Longwood Tour Bus in Tabaa, Egypt on the way to Cairo.
Upon returning to Eilat, we checked into the Americana, a beautiful but noisy hotel with a very poor parking system. We went for a late Pizza at the Yotvata Kibbutz dairy restaurant across from the hotel and onto the sack.
In the morning after an incredible breakfast, we dragged all of our bags to our room and repacked for our dive trip. Then we returned the very heavy bags to the car. That afternoon we visited the Eilat Oceanarium at Coral Beach. We saw the undersea aquarium, went on a submarine and bounced through a 4 D movie.
Later that afternoon in the 108 degree heat, we went snorkeling across from the Princess Hotel near the Egyptian border. The marine life was amazing. The snorkeling was wonderful. We saw many fish, coral and an eel that we'd never seen before. We then headed back to the hotel where we swam before retiring for the night.
Wednesday morning, after another incredible breakfast, we headed for the Egyptian consulate where we spent a pleasant hour speaking with a Palestinian and a couple from New Zealand while we waited for the Consul to Kach ZaChoyse. Later we headed for King's City where we had a hard time getting in, and one of the main rides was broken.
After King's City we rested for awhile at Coral Beach and then headed for our Camel Ride. The ride was followed by a sumptuous repast of many types of goat cheese prepared on the premises and tea. We rode with three very wealthy Russian American boys. Then back to Coral Beach for another rest before we drove to the border at midnight to get to Sharm El Sheikh, the Wildcat and the Red Sea.
When we returned from the Red Sea, Eddy, Laurie and I checked into the Edomit, went to the mall to get CD's, hunted for the rest of the divers, and ate some Schwarma after I had a mental breakdown. We returned to the hotel, burned a CD for Eddy and hit the sack. In the morning, we ate and headed for Massada, Ein Gedi and the Dead Sea.
