Tour of Altun Ha, Mayan Site
| Our trip started by climb the 54 foot high steps of the Southern Temple. Our guide, Randy, explained the setup of the entire site, showing us each Temple from a Bird's Eye View while I huffed and puffed, dreading the climbs up the other Temples.

 | I was still huffing and puffing as we hit the bottom of the Temple. I walked around to the Plaza to take this picture. I'm still breathing heavy months later, just thinking about it. |
| Didn't these Mayan Priest know anything about elevators or escalators? I don't think so. What they did know was how to get their workers to create the awesome structures we see. | |
 | Wow, even two thirds of the way up the steps, the final journey remains awesome. |
| Across from the first set of steps, the cropping rises above the plaza.
| |
 | Now we begin to head across the plaza to the Famous Temple of the Sun. I am standing directly in front of a burial mound taking this picture. |
| We move forward toward the Temple. I can hear the sound of running water and the presence of the Ancient Mayan dieties. | |
 | Altun Ha means "Water of the Rock". We are moving closer and closer to the Temple of the Sun God, Kinich Aha! I can almost see the crosseyed priests with their pushed in foreheads. |
| We are now at the base of Altun Ha's main Temple the Kinich! It was here that pieces of the fabulous Jade Head were found. Uh oh, I think foolish male pride may cause this out of shape old man to climb yet another set of steps. If you never hear from me again. . . | |
 | We end with stone representations of the fabulous JadeHead. I'm still puffing from my journey up and down. I had to show pictures of children to avoid being sacrificed. There are four of these figures at the base of the Temple. The Jade Headcan be seened in the corner of every Belizean banknote. Adios! |
